Speed Drawing :: Tennotsukai

More practice using the same technique as the Len Nicholas speed render. Trying to mold it into my own sort of style. The process I used for this was:

Create a black silhouette with a defined shape (wings on separate layer).
Draw with white over to define details and features.
Duplicate black layers and merge black layers.
Color on the black directly (wings on separate layer).
Erase where needed along the outer part.
Layer up the lineart. Erase parts outside of lineart.
Add extra highlights and shadows.
Touch up various parts.

The Len Nicholas process was the same from the complete black silhouette (though that was more of an abstract silhouette first since it was a concept render demo) and color directly on the black layer. I tried not using as many layers as I normally would so I needed to be more precise but at the same time I was having fun and doing whatever I thought the image needed.
