Here's my Leafeon gijinka I redid from NYAF '08!
Photo was taken by someone in the audience area at the Masquerade at AnimeNext 2009. Fun Facts: -> The costume was fairly simple, but I kept improvising when I realized it didn't fit over my giant hips >.> The result was me ripping the seams up the sides and re-sewing to makes triangular slits. -> The triangular slits can make this an innocent or a risque costume: If tights are worn underneath (like I was during the con) it's covering up everything nicely. Without tights or anything, it becomes a 'omg Leafeon's trying to show me some leg' thing (I tried walking around and sitting while at home without the leggings and as long as I kept my legs together while sitting, I could run and stuff without anything showing though it show quite a bit of leg. -> The leaves were bought from a Michael's craft store and repainted and sewn on. The ears were made by taking 2 of the larger leaves and bending the wired stem to fit on my head. The tail was made similarly by taking 2 giant leaves, cutting the stem off one and gluing it to the other so they overlapped somewhat. -> There is elastic sewn around the bust area but it does nothing! I sewed it in wrong and it does not stretch as I had intended (I need to wear a certain bra or inserts and that bra so it doesn't slip down) xD -> I did not plan on what footwear to use. For the Masquerade, I walked around barefoot. The rest of the time I wore my awesome grey and pink&white striped sneakers! -> This costume debuted at the AnimeNext 2009 Masquerade in a Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh skit! [link] Thanks to whoever took the photo! (Again, I can't seem to remember websites) >.>; |
